My Favorite BNI Story

I was introduced to a new restaurant in town, instead of choosing Payroll Management, the client decided to sign up with an Online Payroll company. The Online company failed to send them their payroll reports week #1, then failed to mail their PAYROLL CHECKS on time for week #2. She called me (on a Friday @ 3:30 PM) and I was in her restaurant at 10:00 AM SATURDAY morning to get her set up with Payroll Management. We not only had her set up to run THAT WEEK, but I also helped her complete the ME Income Tax Withholding and ME Unemployment Tax applications that needed to be completed. She is (and will be) a customer for life because Local Service does make a difference.

Imagine you’re at a networking event. You’ve done this many times—mingle, shake hands, exchange business cards, and make a mental note of who seems interesting. But what often happens after the handshakes fade and the small talk ends? For most, those promising connections never turn into clients or even valuable contacts. Sound familiar? You’re not […]

One of the questions I am often asked is: “Are weekly chapter meetings really necessary?” Meeting every week is a serious commitment, and I get it—some people aren’t thrilled about showing up week in and week out for their business networking meeting. In 1986, I decided to experiment with this and launched seven BNI chapters […]
